I am a Senior Officer in the KCETB. I am working in the ITG department (Information, Technology and Governance). I am interested in promoting Irish in the workplace and in creating a positive culture towards it throughout the organisation.

I have been working with the Teaching Council since 2021 and I took the role of Irish Language Officer in September of last year. After having done my primary and secondary school education through Irish, it was wonderful to return to the language in the workplace and I am looking forward to working with the Gréasán as part of this role.

Katelyn Hanna

Competition and Consumer Protection Commission

My name is Katelyn Hanna. I’m from Donegal, but I’m now living in Dublin. I’m a Communications Executive with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC). I’m not fluent (yet!), but I have a great love for the Irish language and, together with my colleague Emma, I really enjoy promoting the language among my colleagues.

I am a qualified chartered accountant with more than twenty five years of different challenging experience in complicated commerce organisations and in the public service. I a currently the Director Of Corporate Operations with Safefood, one of the North-South companies that was founded under the Good Friday Agreement. I live in West Cork and, outside of work, I enjoy plaing golf, taking my two dogs for regular walks, gardening and various DIY projects.

I have been working with CMETB since 2023 and started relearning Irish in 2025. I have some background in speaking Irish, having attended an all-Irish primary school, but I still have a lot to learn. I believe that learning a language is a lifelong journey, and I am keen to continue improving my Irish while encouraging and supporting others to use the language in their daily work. I look forward to developing my confidence and helping to promote Irish within CMETB.

I have been working in the Civil Service since 2018. I learned my Irish as an adult through the various conversation groups around the capital. I’m a Dub and I’m involved with the GAA, Conradh na Gaeilge, Comhaltas and many other groups. I am always encouraging the use of the Irish language.

I am a from Dublin. I attended Scoil Lorcáin in Monkstown and Coláiste Eoin in Booterstown before getting a degree in Trinity College. I am working as An Irish Language Officer in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council with eight months now. I am working the -An Leabharlann Fháilteach’ and ‘Cuir Síol’ schemes as part of my work and I have started a ‘Grúpa Gaeilge’ in DLR. I am very interested in the GAA and I am a sports reporter in my extra time.

My name is Emma Ní Ghallchóir. I’m from County Meath (not Ráth Cairn unfortunately!). I’ve been living in Finglas for the past seven years. I have a real passion for the Irish language. I’m not fluent, but I’m a dedicated learner. I’ve been working as a Communications Executive with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) for the past two years. My colleague Katelyn and I make an effort to promote the Irish language within the organisation.

Mairéad Carey

The Central Statistics Office

Mairéad works as an Irish Language Officer in the Central Statistics Office in Cork. She has a degree in music and Irish and a masters in ethno-musicology from UCC. She studied language coaching in the workplace in UL recently. She is a traditional musician as well and has gotten many travel opportunities with music to date - including Newfoundland, Brittany and Norway. She is a member of the Drummaveg Céillí Band.

I am originally from County Fermanagh. After completing a BA and MA at University College Dublin, i spent more than ten years working in the media, producing programmes for TG4, RTÉ and TV3. In recent years, i have worked in communications and public relations. I joined the Arts Council as Internal Communications Manager in 2025.
